Marion Couch, MD, PhD, MBA

Dr. Couch is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Vermont and the Interim Chair of Surgery. She is a head and neck surgical oncologist with an active clinical practice and research laboratory training clinical fellows. Her areas of expertise are the metabolic derangements seen in cancer cachexia, with additional interest in the cardiac dysfunction that patients with cancer cachexia experience. She organized a symposium on Cancer Cachexia at the University of Vermont in 2010, and was a member of the Conference Planning Committee for the 1st Cancer Cachexia meeting in Boston, MA, in 2012.

Imed Gallouzi, PhD

Dr. Gallouzi is a Professor in the Biochemistry Department and at the Goodman Cancer Center, at McGill University. His main research interests are focused on muscle fiber formation and muscle related diseases such as cancer cachexia. His recent contribution to the field opened the door to establish a link between posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression and the onset of cancer cachexia. He held a Canada Research Chair in cellular information from 2002 to 2012 and he is a panel member of several national and international granting agencies. He has been involved in organizing several international meetings in the field of posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression and their link to diseases such as cancer.

Denis Guttridge (Chair), PhD

Dr. Guttridge is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Virology, Immunology, and Medical Genetics at Ohio State University Medical Center. He currently serves as directors the Center for Muscle Health and Neuromuscular Disease and the working group for Cancer Cachexia at Ohio State. His areas of expertise are in NF-κB signaling and the regulation of skeletal myogenesis and muscle disorders with an emphasis on cancer cachexia and muscular dystrophy. He planned, organized and funded a muscle symposium on "Understanding Muscle: From Development to Disease", in Columbus, Ohio in 2009. He was a co-organizer for the "Molecular Mechanisms of Muscle Growth and Wasting in Health and Disease" meeting in Ascona, Switzerland in 2011, and was a lead organizer for the 1st Cancer Cachexia meeting in Boston, MA, in 2012.
